GOP Moms: Between a Rock and the Hard Right

Yesterday I snuck into a conservative women’s luncheon at the Heritage Foundation to hear Republican Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers talk about balancing motherhood with work — you know, from a non-feminist perspective.

It’s the most fun piece I’ve done in awhile, so I hope you check it out.

Remember the central tenet of all things GOP — it’s okay if you’re a Republican. This applies to gay sex, extramarital affairs, perjury, and all forms of rank hypocrisy. Everyone else should abide by the rules that the wingers lay down, whether it is being chaste, staying at home with the kids, faithful to your spouse — but those who serve the cause are exempt from rebuke. See Schafly, Phyllis. Haggard, Ted. Cheney, Mary. And on and on.
